Mandinga Lieder & Balafon Workshop mit Sory Diabaté

Griots sind Hüter einer jahrhundertealten Tradition: Sie bewahren Geschichte, Erinnerung und Wissen und geben es singend-erzählend über Generationen weiter. Bis heute spielen sie im gesellschaftlichen Lieben vieler westafrikanischer Gemeinschaften eine wichtige Rolle.

Die Musik der Griots ist eng mit der Manding-Kultur Westafrikas verbunden, die heute Regionen in u.a. Guinea, Mali, Gambia und Senegal prägt. Die Manding-Musik verbindet Gesang mit Instrumenten wie Kora – der westafrikanischen Stegharfe – und Balafon – einem pentatonischen Holzxylophon.

Studiert mit dem Griot/den Griots [NAME(N) EINFÜGEN] ein traditionelles westafrikanisches Stück als Gruppe im Chor ein. 

Wer möchte, kann dazu selbst zum Balafon greifen und das Stück begleiten.

Griots are the guardians of a centuries-old tradition: they preserve history, memory and knowledge, passing them down over generations through song and storytelling. To this day, they play an important role in the social life of many West African communities.

The music of the griots is closely linked to the Mandinka culture of West Africa, which today shapes regions in Guinea, Mali, Gambia, Senegal and other countries. So-called Mandinka music combines singing with instruments such as the kora — the West African bridge harp — and the balafon — a pentatonic wooden xylophone.

Rehearse a traditional West African piece as a group with the griot Sory Diabaté in a choir setting.
